Hi! I’m Amy Langley, a British cellist, string arranger and orchestral director.
I graduated from the Royal Academy of Music, where I was awarded the Florence Hooten concerto prize. I then signed as an artist to WEA Records, establishing myself as a cross-genre cellist and collaborator, performing all over the world with bands including Jeff Lynne’s ELO, Muse, Suede, Kano, Kasabian, The Libertines, Paloma Faith and Anne Marie.
As an arranger, I integrate orchestral arrangements into the soundscapes of a wide range of diverse artists and producers, including Joy Crookes, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Primal Scream, Kano, Ed Harcourt, The Rifles, and Shygirl.
My approach is innovative and unconventional, pushing the boundaries of orchestral sound by utilising both classical and avant-garde string techniques.
I oversee the process from writing through to booking London’s best and most versatile classically-trained musicians who understand the nature of performing and recording within different genres.
